Meet Your Arvada Dentist
Rick E. Martin, DDS
Dr. Martin has always considered himself to be a handy man, in that he likes to work with his hands and constantly make things that improve the world around him. As a child, he enjoyed drawing, painting, pottery, woodworking, and this led him to eventually become a mechanic and electrician. He later became a high school teacher, and after accepting a paid position to get his Masters degree, he was introduced to a small town dentist. Through talking with the dentist and eventually shadowing him, Dr. Martin discovered that dentistry combined all of the things that he liked, including the opportunity to help people both medically and aesthetically. To this day, he still spends much of his time learning, creating, and educating.
Dr. Martin completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Idaho, and he went on to get his Masters degree in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology there as well. Eventually, he found his way to the prestigious Creighton University School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2001. Always an avid student, he continues to grow and refine his skillset by participating in numerous professional organizations, including the Spear Education Faculty Club and the AZDA.
Dr. Martin believes that the single most important responsibility of a dentist is to diagnose quickly and correctly. If a problem is properly identified, then he can attempt to provide a remedy. However, if a problem exists and it’s not identified, it will almost always become a larger problem with fewer options for a healthy solution. It’s also very important to him to educate his patients about their dental needs and what can be done to achieve and maintain optimal health. And lastly, he understands that no one likes to undergo medical procedures, so he strives to provide care in as gentle and tranquil a manner as possible while treating everyone with complete respect.
Life Outside of Dentistry
Dr. Martin has plenty of hobbies to keep himself busy when he’s not helping patients. On weekends, you’ll find him woodworking, barbecuing, beer brewing, wine tasting, working on his car and motorcycle, or hiking one of the many local trails. Of course, he also loves to spend time with his fiancé, Lindsay, and their dog, Mowgli, too! On lazy days, they all like to sit back, watch football, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Colorado.
