Preventive Dentistry for Arvada
While Dr. Batliner has all the experience needed to handle any dental concern you can imagine, he’d much rather help people avoid developing dental problems in the first place! That’s why he recommends that patients of all ages should come in for regular preventive visits at least twice a year. With them, he can keep common problems like decay, cavities, and gum disease at bay. To schedule an appointment with us, simply contact us today.
Dental Checkups & Cleanings
Regular checkups and cleanings enable our team to accomplish two very important tasks. First, it gives Dr. Batliner the chance to examine a patient’s mouth and catch any potential problems they might have early. Secondly, a professional cleaning from one of our hygienists removes harmful plaque and tartar deposits on the teeth and gums, particularly from those areas that toothbrushes and floss can’t reach. These cleanings are also great for breaking up minor surface stains to help keep the teeth nice and white!
Our practice uses X-rays every day to spot dental problems before they’re even visible to the naked eye, and to make this tool faster and safer, we’ve gone fully digital. Digital X-rays can create highly-detailed images in a matter of seconds, they don’t require harsh chemicals to be processed, and better yet, they emit up to 80% LESS radiation compared to traditional X-rays. Also, we can instantly display the images on a nearby monitor so you can go over them with Dr. Batliner.
Every parent wants their child to enjoy a lifetime of healthy smiles, and early-age dental appointments are absolutely essential to making that happen. At Sage Dental Care, we’re happy to serve the youngest members of your family to make sure their teeth stay strong and beautiful through all phases of their development.
We recommend that a child should start having regular preventive dental appointments around the age of three or four. Initially, we’ll go very slowly to make sure your child has time to acclimate and become comfortable in our office. Many of our team members are parents themselves, so they’ll know exactly how to calm your little one’s nerves if necessary.
Using a combination of gentle exams, cleanings, dental sealants, and fluoride treatments, we can keep a close eye on your child’s smile and prevent the onset of cavities. As your child ages, we’ll be able to provide the more specialized services they need so they can always visit the same doctor and team that they trust.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Bruxism is the scientific name for nighttime teeth grinding, which is a condition that affects as many as 1 in 3 people here in the U.S. (including children!). This can lead to broken teeth, chronic headaches, and even a strained jaw, so Dr. Batliner will keep an eye out for the tell-tale signs of bruxism whenever you come to see us. If you’re dealing with this sneaky problem, he’ll likely recommend that you wear what is called a nightguard to bed. This small, custom-made mouthpiece places a protective barrier between the teeth in order to prevent them from grinding together.
Oral Cancer Screening
As part of every routine checkup, Dr. Batliner will perform a complete oral cancer screening. Oral cancer rates are currently on the rise here in the U.S., and early detection is the absolute key to successful treatment. He’ll examine the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, throat, neck, and face for any signs of cancerous or precancerous tissues, and should he spot something, he can quickly help a patient get the follow-up care that they need.
Gum Disease Therapy
Gum disease is actually the #1 dental problem in the entire world, affecting about HALF of the adult population in North America alone. This is a bacterial infection of the gums, roots of the teeth, and the bone that supports them, and it is usually brought on by a lack of oral hygiene. Left untreated, it can cause red, swollen, and bleeding gums, and it is also the leading cause of tooth loss!
We take gum disease very seriously here at Sage Dental Care, which is why we’ll screen your gums every time you come to see us. If we see any signs of an infection, we’ll utilize a special cleaning known as scaling and root planing to stop it in its tracks. One of our hygienists will first remove any plaque and tartar that has built up below your gum line (scaling), and then the rough surfaces of your teeth’s roots will be smoothed out (root planing). This will make plaque and bacteria less likely to gather on them in the future, significantly lowering your chances of reinfection.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Does going to the dentist make you or your child feel nervous? We’re able to soothe anxious dental patients every day using safe and effective nitrous oxide sedation. For this, all a patient has to do is breathe in the colorless, odorless gas through a small nasal mask to start feeling warmer, lighter, and much more relaxed while in the chair. Even better, once the mask is removed, the gas’ effects wear off almost instantly, allowing someone to quickly return to their day.
